Fish On Bait Company is a vertically integrated producer of recreational troll bait. We have just completed our third year of operations. Our processing facility located in Canada, will re-open in May of 2005, and resume production of frozen vacuum packed trays of graded herring for the recreational North American sports bait market. The company has restructured it's harvesting operations to process only starved fish, which will result in improved scale retention, and increased firmness of the herring. Fish On

Bait Company also produces vacuum packed UPC coded trays of jig-caught squid, Alaskan octopus, sardines, salmon eggs, shrimp, tinker mackerel, herring strips, and anchovies.

 

Harvesting Operations in Canada


After the herring are caught, they are transported back to holding pens where they remain for a minimum of four weeks. When the texture of the bait is up to company specifications, the fish are carefully pumped aboard of our transport carrier and delivered in slush ice to the production facility.

Immediately after grading, the trays are flash frozen at -40 C. A fine mist of sea water is then applied to prevent dehydration, and our trademark herring oil is applied as an additional enhancement. The trays are then vacuum packed, mastered, date coded, and readied for shipment to our retail accounts, distributors, and tackle shops.
