The OPTIMA® BlueTop battery will keep you on the water longer. Its patented SPIRALCELL® Technology means more running time, faster recharge, and up to twice the life of traditional marine and RV batteries.

 

I run several OPTIMA Blue Tops in my North River boat paralleled* into two banks for increased battery reserve power. This allows me to run 3 downriggers, an open array radar and three GPS/Sonar units, VHF and Stereo along with a refrigerator and an inverter to run my microwave oven without the fear of ever running out of starting power for my main engines.

 Unlike most fisheries that require anglers to run miles offshore and troll on the main engines all day at speeds of 6-10 MPH charging their batteries in the process most salmon anglers run relatively short distances and troll on smaller kicker motors all day at speeds of 3MPH or less. This tends to heavily task most deep cycle batteries as they don’t have the time to fully recharge between fishing excursions. The OPTIMA Blue Tops hold up great for this style fishing as the batteries hold voltage longer and recharge faster then regular deep cycle batteries.

So far I found OPTIMA batteries hold up great being pounded in the ocean and recharge quickly for the next day of fishing. One set of OPTIMA's D34M BlueTop batteries paralleled* together takes up less space then one large standard deep cycle battery. OPTIMA's D34M and D31M BlueTop batteries are dual-purpose batteries. They can be used in any deep cycle (marine accessory, R/V, trolling motor) or starting applications.

Note* In Parallel: you connect the (+) of one 12vbattery to the (+) of the other. Connect (-) of one to the (-) of the other. You will then have still have a 12volt battery, but with greater amp hour capacity. This is now an ordinary 12V battery, except that instead of being in one "box," it is in two boxes.
