Scotty Electric Downrigger Plug

NEW 12V Downrigger Plug and Receptacle

Premium-quality DC Plug and Receptacle.

The patented Marinco® ConnectPro® Plug and Receptacle features unique locking blades with the industry's largest surface-area for maximum surface contact and electrical conductivity.

ConnectPro® connections are weather resistant

The marine-grade design includes corrosion resistant, plated-brass electrical components, and a watertight sealing cap.

The plug's erogonomic, soft-contoured grip allows easy hook-up and blade alignment.

An O-ring seals out moisture while plugged into the receptacle

The receptacle has Marinco's exclusive Perma-Lock™ terminals, meaning they virtually never need to be retightened

I found these new plugs to be an easy swap out for the original type plugs. They're very water resistant both on the plug and wire side connections and the plug twist locks in place so it can't be easily knocked out of the socket by bumping the cable.

All Scotty electric downriggers shipped after April 2007 come with the new style plug.

Here a quick swap out of a standard 1125 Scotty Plug & socket for those who want to upgrade from the old style plugs.

Old style Scotty plug and socket

Turn power off to downrigger before you start or disconnect the female socket from battery power. Then remove it from the mount.

Disconnect wiring from plug and cut the wires back even and strip back the wire ends about a 1/4 inch.

I opted to use the new Scotty 2128 mounting bracket to hold the new style plug. The mounting holes are the same size as the holes on the old female plug so no drilling was required to mount it. Mount the female plug in the bracket per supplied directions

Wire new female plug per directions; then slide the plug cover over the plug sandwiching it between the mounting bracket.

Next remove the male plug from end of the downrigger cable.

Wire male plug per directions don't over tighten wires

Completed assembly ready for operational test, connect plug if downrigger motor runs backwards you have your power and ground wires crossed. Just reverse the wires.

Total operation to swap out 3 downrigger plugs on the Salmon University boat took 1 hour. 30 minutes on the first plug and then 15 minutes each for the other two after a small learning curve. Recommend tools, wire cutter, wire strippers, small size standard and cross-tip screw drivers. The new style plugs are much more weather proof and the plugs twist lock in place.

You can also order extra male plugs to change over your electric pot pullers or electric halibut reels or other 12-volt accessories to fit the new style Scotty plugs.
