Last
winter a friend of mine moved out of state. When he left, he gave
me most of his salmon tackle. In one of his tackle boxes was a
bag of Big Weenie flies, Herring Helmet and flashers.
I
had never seen this type of fly before. Since they came pre-rigged
with a treble hook, I retied them with the standard double hook
set up. I put them in my tackle box and quickly forgot about them.
While
having a good day of fishing for Blackmouth at Mid Channel Bank
at Port Townsend, I pulled out my Big Weenie flies and tied them
on. It didn't take long for the rod to go off. We landed a nice
9 lb Blackmouth to finish the day early.
The
next time I used them was at Westport for the July opener. These
flies caught Kings, Silvers and Sea Bass and from then on I was
hooked! They have now become one of my "go to lures".
Big
Weenie will custom tie upon request, single barbless hooks in
tandem to comply with West Coast fishing regulations.
I
have also started using their counter rotating flashers. They
come marked left and right and can easily be trolled at the same
depth without worrying about tangles.
Look
them up at BigWeenieBrand.com.
The glow colors are great.
